For Andie’s “Everyday” (gorgeous sweetness here!)
Stone Hot-Plates. All you will need; Felt, a hot glue gun/glue, stones with reasonably flat bottoms, and some patience.
When I was doing this I found that gluing the stones to the felt before cutting out the circle pattern ensured that all of the rocks would fit and look as uniform as possible. Don’t lay out every stone you want to glue down at once; this would simply be asking for a lazy arm, happy dog tail, or unaware roommate to ruin your perfectly planned pattern. Not to mention that increased bood pressure due to stressful protection of “the precious” would suddenly be a real threat. Instead, lay out the stones from the outside-in and glue them by layer.
I saw this project on Pinterest (micahlarae) at first where thin corkboard was used on the bottom. This would add stability to the bottom, but I enjoy the increased storage capacity due to the flexibility of a cork-less hot plate. The quality and ability to protect your countertops isn’t sacrificed by not using this layer and, if you’re buying rocks instead of finding them, it keeps the project under $10.
Peace and grace.
